IT'S WORTH SEEING The CHERRY BLOSSOM & “FURYU-MONO”
Cherry blossom in Hitachi are selected as one of the100 beautiful cherry blossom in Japan and are famous event the same as plum blossom festival in Mito. From Apr.1 to 20, 49th Hitachi Cherry Tree Festival is held , approx. 14,000 cherry flowers are in bloom then you see a sign of spring. During the festival, Heiwa Street, Kamine Park and Jyuo Panorama Park is illuminated at night and you can enjoy the fantastic cherry blossom illumination.
From Early April to mid-April, “Hitachi Furyu-Mono” is held at Heiwa Street.
“Hitachi Furyu-Mono” is a float (Dashi in Japanese) and pull the wires on the float. Puppets come out to 5-level stages when 5 layered roofs of the float (15m height, 8 m width and 5t weight) opens. It is said that this play has been held since medium term of Edo period and “Hitachi Furyu-Mono” was registered as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage in 2009.
“Hitachi Furyu-Mono” is shown at “Hitachi Sakura Matsuri (Cherry blossom Festival)” in April , many tourists visit every year.
