The Twelve Bridges
In the boat tour of Itako's Twelve Bridges, including the Maekawa Suimon (Watergate) Bridge and the Ujo Bridge, starting from the Hitachi-Tonegawa Ferry, you can enjoy the historical outlook and atmosphere of the waterside town of Itako. At the iris festival held in every June, irises of many different colors - white, purple, yellow - are in full bloom along the river. The lively festival consists of a number of activities such as bridal boats (a boat carrying a bride). It takes about 30 minutes to finish the cruise.

Mt.Tsukuba hot springs
Looking out at the Kanto Plain from this boundless outdoor bathing place is a totally refreshing experience. This area is very convenient for one-day touring and mountaineering: it's only 2 to 3 hours' drive from the Tokyo metropolitan area to Mt. Tsukuba, so it's ideal for self-drive tours. The hot spring, located on the side of Mt. Tsukuba, is a particular favorite for one-day tours and will give you a full picture of the exceptional scenery of the Kanto Plain. This is an alkaline, pure spring with water that is clear, transparent, and smooth. The high pH leaves the skin smooth and fine, giving the spring its other name of "Spa of Beauty".
